Send your coach your Garmin data

Your coach uses Chainstay to answer questions about your training, with every number linked to the ride it came from. All it needs is the data export Garmin Connect makes for you. No password is shared and nothing is connected to your account.

1. Request the export

  1. Open garmin.com/account/datamanagement/exportdata and sign in with your Garmin account.
  2. You can also get there from Garmin Connect: your profile, Account, Data Management, Export Your Data.
  3. Click Request Data Export.

2. Download the zip

Garmin emails you a download link when the export is ready. This can take from minutes to a few days. Download the zip from that email. Do not unzip it or rename what is inside.

3. Send it to your coach

The zip is usually too big for email. Share it with a link from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or WeTransfer, whichever your coach uses. Your coach uploads it to Chainstay, where it gets its own tab for you.

Zwift, ROUVY, Wahoo or Strava?

Chainstay reads the Garmin Connect export. Rides from Zwift, ROUVY, a Wahoo or another app are included if they sync to your Garmin Connect account. Exports from Strava or other platforms on their own are not supported yet.

What your coach sees

Sessions, power, heart rate, training load, sleep and resting heart rate from the export. GPS coordinates, your email and your profile details are never indexed. See the privacy policy.

For coaches: a message to send
